Training

What does dog training include?

Dog training is extremely important for every small and large dog! This strengthens and shapes your dog's behavior, and also strengthens the relationship between the owner and dog. Through training the dog learns basic commands, develops obedience and very importantly social skills!

It also makes it easier to cope with everyday situations. Consistent and positive training promotes a harmonious relationship between dog and owner.

There are various reasons why a dog might not like other dogs. Behaviour can be influenced by insecurity, bad experiences, dominance problems or a lack of socialization. It is helpful to discuss the behavior and the problem with us, your dog trainer, in order to get an accurate assessment and find possible solutions.

Dog training covers various aspects, including basic commands such as "sit", "down" and "here". It includes social training to get the dog used to different environments and people. Positive reinforcement, rewards and clear communication are key elements.

Specific training can also include obedience, leash training, toy interactions and problem solving as needed. The goal is a positive bond and a well-behaved, happy dog.

A well-trained dog should at least know the following basic commands:

1. "Sit": The dog sits down on command.

2. "Down": The dog lies down on command.

3. "Here" or "Come": The dog comes to you on command.

4. "Stay" or "Wait": The dog stays in one place until allowed to move.

5 "Heel" or "on side": The dog walks close to its owner's side.

6. "Let go" or "Drop it": The dog releases objects or stops performing an action.

Optional commands that can be trained in a playful way:

" Shake" or " Paw": the dog gives the paw.

"Search" or "Where is it (object)?": The dog searches for a toy or even truffles.

" Bring": The dog brings you what it has found.

These commands help the dog to feel secure and to obey well in different situations.

Desensitization training:

My dog is scared on August 1st and New Year's Eve, what can I do?

Many dogs react anxiously to the loud fireworks on New Year's Eve. You can try to create a calm environment by playing calming music or taking the dog into a darkened room. Make sure he can stay in a safe place. Avoid punishing your dog when they are anxious and instead try to give calm reassurance. If the anxiety is particularly severe, a vet may be able to discuss calming options to help your dog.

To desensitize your dog to certain stimuli, it's important to take a gradual and positive approach. For example, if your dog is afraid of something specific, such as loud noises, you can slowly increase the intensity of the stimulus while associating it with positive experiences and rewards. Consistency and patience are key here. For more complex problems, it may be helpful to seek our professional support from an experienced dog trainer.

My dog barks all the time, what's the problem?

Persistent barking can have various causes, including boredom, fear, territorial behavior or excitement. We try to find out what triggers the barking and work to address the underlying cause. A good option is to reward the dog for staying in calm situations and gradually get him used to the situations that trigger the barking. If the problem persists, we can do behavioral exercises with him and give you helpful tips.
